Decorating With Emerald Green

We look to the New Year for a fresh start in our personal life and what could be better than surrounding ourselves with new color that is energizing.

Pantone’s color of the year for 2013 is Emerald Green. The new go-to color for fashion, beauty and interior design. Described as “Lively. Radiant. Lush… A color of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony.”

Emerald, a statement color that exudes glamour. Now trending in 2013 -- Metallics, gold and emerlad is a match made is heaven. So exquisite!

In The Living Room: Tobi Fairley adds this years color just right with a mix and match of patterns yet the same color scheme. Not over the top but accenting in the furniture and pillow fabrics, lamps symmetrically placed and the subtle pattern in the rug.

Emerald Green furniture is quite a commitment. Consider having existing furniture upholstered or applying a slipcover to affordably get the look you want to acheive.

In The Kitchen Or Dining Room: Add Color Without Having To Redo Everything. Simple design ideas, slipcover your existing kitchen or dining chairs and accent the table and countertops. A decorative centerpiece, table runner, placemats and cloth napkins are sure to do the trick.

A few accents shown above -- window treatments, painted island and fruit bowl and vases in this kitchen that was designed by Tobi Fairley. (WOW Factor: Check out the ceiling!!)

Paint It: Put to use what you already have. Plan to commit... Go bold and paint the walls or infuse just a hint by painting a piece of furniture, window trim or an interior/exterior door.

Accessorize: Make a huge impact without having to do a complete makeover. Add emerald elements such as pillows, throws, window treatments, lamps, rugs, picture frames, art, placemats, dinnerware, vases ect.

Natural accent pieces: Because it's a color found in nature, emerald works with rustic natural materials, like glass, wood and rope. Add a natural green by potting some plants.
