" The Dog Days Of Summer "

 
Keep your Furry Friends Cool: Beat the Heat With Frozen Homemade Dog Treats!
 
 

APPLE-YOGURT FREEZIES
The Things You’ll Need (makes
1) 1 or 2 moderately sized organic apples (Royal Galas always have a nice crunch).
2) 1/2 cup of plain, unsweetened pro-biotic yogurt
3) 2 tbsp Brewer’s yeast 
4) An icecube tray

Directions
1. Wash apples and cut into evenly diced pieces.
2. Stir Brewer’s yeast into yogurt.
3. Gently spoon yogurt mixture into ice cube tray.
4. Press one piece of diced apple into each section of the ice cube tray.
5. Place in freezer and leave overnight to freeze.
6. Once frozen solid, simply pop out a freezie cube whenever it is time to treat pup!

Peanut Butter Frozen Treats
three 6 ounce containers of plain, low-fat yogurt
1/2 cup of peanut butter (low sodium)
1 four ounce jar of banana baby food
1 tablespoon of honey

In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients. Blend well. Pour mixture into small cups (dixie paper cups) Place dog bone in mixture (to serve as the handle for you to hold while your dog enjoys) Freeze. Once frozen, peel away paper cup and serve!

Quick Note: If your dog has allergies or has issues digesting dairy products, consult with your veterinarian before feeding!

DIY Frozen Star Dog Treats
Tools You Need
◾Star Shaped Ice Cube Trays
◾Blender
◾Cake Decorating Tip (to help pour)
Ingredients You Need
◾1 Cup Water
◾8 Strawberries
◾1/4 cup Blueberries

Step 1
Rinse strawberries and blueberries. Set aside.
Step 2
Cut stems off of strawberries
Step 3
Mix 1/2 cup water and all 8 strawberries in the blender. Blend until liquefied. Repeat with Blueberries. (Mixing 1/4 cup Blueberries with 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of water).
Step 4
Pour berry/water mixture into ice cube trays using a cake decorating tip to help prevent any leaks. Repeat with the blueberry mixture.
Step 5
Freeze for 2-4 hours or overnight.
Once they are frozen, pop them out and serve 1-2 cubes to your Irresistible Pet! You can put the remaining cubes into a plastic container and store them in the freezer. Now when your dog is hot you will have a quick, tasty, frozen treat on hand to cool them off!

DIY Chicken Broth Dog Treats
Supplies & Ingredients You Need
◾Water
◾Chicken Bouillon (Sodium Free! I used Herbox brand.)
◾Ice Cube Trays
Step One
Follow the instructions on the bouillon packaging and mix chicken bouillon and water in a pitcher or Pyrex measuring cup.
Step Two
Pour the chicken broth into the ice cube trays.
Step Three
Place the ice cube trays in the freezer and allow the chicken broth to freeze into ice cubes.
~Last: Pop Out Of The Ice Cube Tray And Serve!
◾Anytime treat or perfect cool treat on a hot day!
◾Add an ice cube to your dog’s water bowl to add flavor.

Doggie Fro Yo
Ingredients:
•1 1/2 cups plain Greek yogurt
•1/2 cup natural peanut butter
•1 over-ripe, very sweet banana
•small dog biscuits
•small paper cups (I had some leftover cups from Dunkin’ Donuts)

Directions:
1. Mix all of the ingredients together.
2. Scoop the yogurt mixture into the paper cups.
3. Place a dog biscuit into every cup.
4. Freeze the Doggie Fro Yo cups completely. When you are ready to serve them to your furry friend, simply peel away the paper. (This treat can be messy. It is best served outside!)
